Katarina is a native Mandarin speaker proficient in both traditional and simplified Chinese characters. She holds a BA in English Language and Literature from Peking University and an MPhil in Chinese Literature from the University of Hong Kong. With over 15 years of teaching experience, Katarina has guided students in IB, IGCSE/GCSE, A Level, AP, and Ancient Chinese subjects. She also served as a university tutor at the School of Chinese, HKU, for two years, and has three years of full-time homeschooling experience with a prestigious Singaporean family. Many of her students consistently achieve top scores and gain admission to leading universities worldwide. For the Extended Essay (EE), 95% of her Chinese B students achieved an A grade, while more than half of her Chinese A students attained an A grade. In her teaching, Katarina combines a variety of methods, including grammar-translation, the communicative approach, and task-based learning, while also helping students strengthen their memory and study techniques. Her students are from renowned schools worldwide, including Eton College (Windsor), La Garenne International School (Switerland), Sevenoaks School (Kent), ALDAR Academy (UAE), Harrow International School (Hong Kong), Shanghai American School (Shanghai), etc. Katarina can also provide students with both a UCAS reference and their predicted grades. In addition, she provides consultations for students applying to universities in Hong Kong. She takes great joy in helping students unlock their potential and has found her true passion in education.
