Hello! I'm Keiron, a British native English speaker and a CELTA-qualified tutor (Pass B). I recently graduated from University College London with a First Class BSc in Psychology, where I specialised in Bilingualism and Second Language Acquisition, Language and Cognition, and Developmental Psychology. I've just started as a kindergarten English teacher at Language Tree, and I also teach one-to-one online. Teaching experience For the past year I've taught one-to-one EAL lessons online to five to eight primary-age students (roughly ages 6 to 13), mostly Cantonese and Mandarin speakers, for more than ten contact hours a week. I design each student's materials around the pronunciation and fluency habits that carry over from their first language. Many of my students return week after week, which I'm proud of. I also tutor university-age students for IELTS, focusing on speaking and writing, and I previously tutored UCL students in Psychology, adapting my explanations to each person's learning style. Background in language and learning My degree gave me a grounding in how children acquire language and why some find it harder. I also worked as a Research Assistant at Moor House School & College, a specialist school for children with Developmental Language Disorder, where I analysed literacy data to help shape interventions. I hold safeguarding clearance for that setting. I've facilitated workshops for 20+ secondary students with Headucate Volunteering, mentored first-year UCL students, and taken part in a UCL programme in Hanoi, which deepened my interest in teaching learners from East Asian backgrounds. My teaching style Lessons with me are friendly, structured, and built around speaking. I use games, songs, stories, and interactive tools like Zoom, Nearpod, and Padlet to keep things active, and I correct gently, treating mistakes as clues for what to practise next. With young children, learning should feel like play, so I keep activities short, varied, and encouraging. I keep parents updated so progress is easy to see. Languages English (native), with basic Cantonese, Mandarin, and Korean. I'm learning these myself, so I know how it feels to speak a new language, and I'm patient with every student who tries.
