I am a first-year international undergraduate student at the University of Hong Kong (HKU) currently, planning to major in Psychology and Linguistics. I bring both academic passion and real-world communication skills to the role of English tutor. My journey with the English language has not only shaped my academic path, but it has also opened doors to some of the world’s most prestigious institutions. In the past year alone, my abilities earned me offers from the University of Oxford, University of Birmingham, University of Manchester and several other top universities of the world. Growing up in a multilingual environment, I developed skills for easy language learning. Last year, I taught myself Korean from scratch, which gave me firsthand insight into the language learning process. This experience deepened my understanding for learners and strengthened my ability to break down complex linguistic concepts into small, relatable steps. I understand the challenges that come with learning English, especially for non-native speakers, and I strive to make the learning process engaging, supportive, and tailored to each learner’s unique needs. My academic interests in Psychology and Linguistics enhance my approach to teaching. Psychology equips me with insights into how people learn, retain information, and stay motivated, while Linguistics deepens my understanding of grammar, phonetics, semantics, and language acquisition. In tutoring sessions, I emphasize clarity, confidence, and creativity. Whether a student is preparing for standardized exams, working on academic writing, or simply trying to improve conversational fluency, I adapt my methods to suit their goals. I incorporate interactive techniques, real-life examples, and constructive feedback to ensure that real progress is being made. Having recently navigated the university application process myself, I am also well-equipped to support students aiming for higher education. I can offer guidance on personal statements, interview preparation, and academic writing, drawing from my own successful experience applying to competitive programs. My acceptance into Oxford and all the other world class universities was not just about grades—it was about demonstrating thoughtfulness, articulation, and a genuine passion for learning. Coming from India, I did took the CBSE Examination and received A grades in my subjuscts(English Language and Literature, History, Economics, Political Science, Computer Science, Hindi). Above all, I believe that tutoring is a partnership. It’s about building trust, celebrating progress, and fostering a mindset of curiosity and resilience. I take pride in being approachable, patient, and enthusiastic—qualities that help students feel comfortable and motivated to learn.
