I’m Shahina, a freshman at HKUST studying Environmental Management and Technology. I earned an IELTS score of 8.0 at 17 last year, and even before and since then I’ve supported over 300 students in their IELTS preparation, especially for the Speaking component. I provide individualized feedback on fluency, pronunciation, and coherence, and I design engaging speaking activities that help students build confidence and feel genuinely ready for the test. Beyond IELTS, I’ve worked as a mentor at Impact Admissions Uzbekistan, focusing on Asian university admissions, particularly for universities in Japan, Hong Kong, Mainland China, and Korea. In this role, I guide students through the full application journey—from choosing universities and programs to crafting strong personal statements and preparing for interviews or entrance exams. I also help students strengthen their profiles through extracurriculars, including preparing for the World Scholar’s Cup and developing research projects that showcase their interests and potential. Currently, I hold two full-tuition scholarships: a university admissions scholarship from HKUST and the HKSAR Belt and Road Scholarship. I’m naturally very energetic and calm under pressure, and I apply these strengths in my work with the Jockey Club Shining Together programme under the Jockey Club Charities Fund, where I support peers through mentoring and counseling-style sessions.
