I employ a variety of methods to teach, especially for younger students. I try to make lessons understandable by providing real-life scenarios and doing check ins with students to track their understanding. When I teach, I start by showing my students how to do, then move to working on the task together, before them working on the questions themselves - gradually releasing the responsibility to them. I’m a strong believer of the inquiry approach which translates to me encouraging my students to think for themselves and questions why things work the way they do, which I supplement with methods to help them figure out. I’ve taught students ranging from 18 months, to 17 years old. I’ve worked in an international school and with students to learn the phonics code, practise for international school entrance interviews, tests, IPC and IB programs, to Singapore GCSE ’N’ and ‘O’ levels. I’ve helped a student in Maths who skipped grades (from 3 to 5), and she did not only catch up with the school work, she is excelling in class. I’ve worked to help students score 2 points in their Singapore ’N’ Levels exam (from 4 points), and have worked with students in IB curriculum.
