Greetings. My name is Jefferson, and I am a native English speaker and engineering graduate from the University of California, San Diego — ranked 19th globally, according to the Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU). I am also an honorary alumni from the University of Cambridge in England, having previously studied in the Year Abroad Programme at Pembroke College. My primary areas of expertise for tutoring include English language, Maths, Physics, World History, Literature, and French. I was born in Korea but was raised in Beijing, China and Taipei, Taiwan. I attended Harrow International School of Beijing and Taipei American School for lower school and high school, respectively. I currently attend the Chinese University of Hong Kong and am majoring in Global Economics and Finance. My strongest suite is the SAT; I got a 1530 (730 in Reading & Writing and 800 in Math) and I have tutored multiple high school students. I can, however, also teach TOEFL, AP, SAT Subject tests, and so forth. All classes are taught in English and I am confident in my ability to explain things easily.

Having two master degrees, one in English Language Education and the other in Literary Studies, I have extensive knowledge in English teaching. With my teaching experience in two boys' schools and private tutoring for over ten years, I have not only acquired practical skills to guide and facilitate students' learning but also have comprehensive understanding in their needs and difficulties in different stages of learning. My intriguing and interactive approach encourages learners to express their ideas and engage in various tasks. My students always make obvious progress with guidance in my class.

The best person to seek guidance from is the one who has ‘walked the walk’. This is what students need: a tutor who has recently gone through the same experience and succeeded. As a year 2 Civil Engineering PolyU student who recently came out of international A Level examinations with 3A*s and 1A, and 8A*s in O Levels before that, I believe I can fulfill this need. I have given the new digital SAT and scored 1520 (770 in Math and 750 in English). I have also won 3rd place nation-wide in the International Kangaroo Mathematics Contest. Moreover, I have had sufficient experience to experiment with my teaching techniques and develop the most effective strategies, among them is the Feynman Technique. I encourage my students to become the teacher in the last 10 mins of the session and teach me what they have learned. This cements their understanding. I am happy to provide notes, create structured prep plans, and prepare assignments for my students.
