As a mother of three young children, I understand and empathize with the struggles both students and parents face in navigating the competing standards of the Hong Kong school curriculum. My motivation for teaching English stems from a desire to help young learners grasp the fundamental concepts of the language in a fun and structured way, enabling them to build a strong foundation for their learning. I am a passionate teacher, and I strive to promote interest and instill confidence in my students. My tutoring experience includes teaching kindergarten children whose parents want them to enjoy and become accustomed to speaking and listening to English in an all-immersive environment. I teach phonics through games and songs. With primary students, I primarily focus on helping them with reading comprehension, sentence structure, composition and grammar. I like to use inquiry-based learning, along with a routine and structured approach, in my teaching. It is important for my students to develop a sense of security in my lessons, knowing what they will learn and how that knowledge can help them tackle the topics they are studying (or struggling with) at school. This approach also makes it easier for parents to understand their child's strengths and weaknesses, enabling them to provide targeted support in specific areas.
